THE FOOD DIARY

This project was created during my Information Design minor, where the assignment was to design a digital interactive storytelling app centered around food. With complete creative freedom, I chose to explore culinary traditions across different countries and continents, inspired by my own experiences.
The concept focuses on showcasing how diverse food cultures are compared to Dutch traditions. The story is told from a personal perspective, combining my own design style, storytelling, and interactive elements to create an engaging and authentic experience.
Designed for children, the project balances storytelling with playful interaction. Users are encouraged to explore, click, and discover different food habits in an intuitive and fun way.
This project highlights how interactive design can transform personal stories into engaging educational experiences.

1. Project Overview
Project: What If
Role: UX/UI Designer
Duration: Semester project
Context: Educational game about social media algorithms
Social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram use algorithms to personalize content and maximize engagement. Teenagers interact with these systems daily but rarely understand how they work.
This project explores how design can make algorithmic influence visible and understandable for teenagers through playful interaction.
The result is What If, a hybrid educational game combining physical cards, role-play, and digital interaction to help teenagers explore how algorithms shape their online experiences.
Project Overview
Project: What If
Role: UX/UI Designer
Duration: 12 weeks
Context: Educational digital game about social media algorithms
Social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram use algorithms to personalize content and influence what users see online. Teenagers interact with these systems every day, but often do not understand how these algorithms work or how they shape their behavior, emotions, and online experiences.
The goal of this project was to design an interactive experience that helps teenagers understand algorithmic influence in a simple, engaging, and playful way.
Through research, co-creation workshops with teenagers, and iterative prototyping, the concept What If was developed. The result is a hybrid educational game that combines digital interaction, physical cards, and role-play scenarios to make invisible algorithmic systems tangible and understandable.
The project explores how playful design, guided reflection, and user participation can help translate complex technological concepts into meaningful learning experiences for young audiences.
